An audio stream of the band's first single "Slither" can be heard in RealMedia format by clicking HERE. The track was aired on BBC's Radio 1 Rock Show on Tuesday night.

"Slither" comes off VELVET REVOLVER's much-anticipated debut CD, "Contraband", due on May 18 through RCA Records.

"Contraband" will include twelve of the more than fifty tracks the band co-wrote before and after vocalist Scott Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) joined the lineup last spring. The CD was produced by Josh Abraham (LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND) and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER, SEPULTURA). Mastering took place on December 19 in New York City.

"Contraband" track listing (in alphabetical order):

01. Big Machine
02. Do It For The Kids
03. Falling To Pieces
04. Headspace
05. Illegal Eye
06. Loving The Alien (Sometimes)
07. Set Me Free
08. Slither
09. Spectacle
10. Suckertrain Blues
11. Superhuman
12. You Got No Right

"Slither" will be delivered March 23 to U.S. rock radio outlets for airplay consideration.

The video shoot for "Slither" has been delayed until early April. The band were all ready to shoot the vid last Sunday, but a Pasadena judge denied Weiland permission to hook up with his bandmates for the shoot. Weiland is due back in court March 23 for another probation progress report hearing. He's also due back in court March 15 to face charges of driving under the influence of drugs.

I just gave a listen and what I hear is very good. Another slash fixx for me!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunatley from the looks of Weiland
s situation,I don't give this band very long. He'll wind up in jail or dead soon enough. For as long as this ride lasts,I'll be listening and watching. Good stuff there.

They're about 10 years too late on the style. Alice In Chains did it first and they did it better, and I am not a fan of anything other than "Facelift". Bah, Weiland still carries no originality, and it is obvious with each new release that Slash had nothing to do with "Appetite".

glammy puppets?? Carl,Slash is a heavily blues influenced guitarist. Have you ever heard him play anything other than GNR,Snakepit or Revolver? This man is very bluesy. I'm not trying to sell him to you, you're not buying, but I'm saying as far as Slash go's do not pidgeon hole him. I could sit and listen to him play for hours. Yes,you are an oppinionated bastard, but your fame entitles you

Carl, C'mon...If it wasn't for Guns n' Roses coming along when they did back around 88' the whole movement back then wouldn't have progressed as far as it did. Guns n Roses gave some credibility back to the scene after a deluge of shmaltzy suedo "hard rock" bands..."insert power ballad here"

It doesn't break much new ground...but hell what does these days? As I said with BOD, at least these guys are making new music and not flogging some piss poor reunion show with a couple of original members and some hired guns. I've always liked Slashes playing so I give it a thumbs up.

So Carl, why don't you put up your list of good taste in music and we'll critique it....ROFL

Nah, disliking Poison just means I have good taste in music.

Velvet though is dated, and sounds like AIC. Though the Glammy puppets who love Slash and hate the whole "grunge" thing will obviously look past that.

A crotchety old man? Nah, just don't like stale music. I am an opinionated ass though.

Give me a few to find it. It might only be on my other computer. I'll check to see if it is on the one at work. I sent it to Blittz a few months back, so I know it is still around.

<font size="3" face="Arial">I will if you would like. I did a Top 50 for this joint quite some time ago. I still have the list and would be happy to bore you all with it. But it is strictly "Glam" based, and not complete for everything I like. Bash away at my music all you like! Hell, I am (was?) a HUGE Marillion fan, so you better believe I am used to musical attacks! LOL!

As for GnR, I have always thought them shit. I bought "Appetite" the day it came out (yeah, ain't I cool), and the second Axl opened that trap of his I knew I had to find a sucker to buy it off of me. 5 days later it was gone from my house.

Slash is a decent enough band, but VR is nothing special at all. I say "Glammy puppets" as to meaning that the Glam fans are so desperate nowdays (myself included here) that we are willing to accept anything that even resembles our music. Face it, VR sounds like the same style of music that many blame for the death of Glam. But since there is a connection, people will take to it. Hell, does anybody remember who Weiland is considered a rip-off of??? Or has everybody forgotten that STP was considered a Pearl Jam/AIC clone? And don't give me the whole "but Weiland wore make-up and looked Glam" argument, because once upon a time, so did all of the "Grunge" bands.

So, do you want the list?
